Gear Grinder

Gear Grinders are enemies in Hurricos, a realm in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, who generally make life difficult for the Electrolls. There are at least two types of Gear Grinders, including the Gear Grinder Thieves. Gear Grinders usually attack by swinging their over-sized monkey wrenches at Spyro, and they can only be defeated by flame. The large Gear Grinders can also be occasionally seen cranking the key on their robots and unleashing them on Spyro.

Trivia

• Gear Grinders might have been at least partial inspiration for Ratchet from the Ratchet & Clank series, as they hold a wrench and they are accompanied by the Gear Grinder Robots, which look similar to Clank. This would make sense, as Insomniac created that series and were the developers of the original three games in the Spyro series.
• According to scrapped level dialogue by Elora, Hurricos provides most of Avalar's electricity. It is also revealed that Ripto had sent the Gear Grinders to steal this energy.
• Their new appearance shows they are more muscular, and their wrenches are larger.
• In the Spyro Reignited version of Magic Crafters, a Grinder was spotted along with an Electroll under the area with the supercharge path albeit T-posed on the ocean.
