They are dark blue, have green eyes, and wear chest-plates to absorb flames, but are usually statue-like when they blink and look around, and stand firm when they don't move. If [[Spyro the Dragon (character)|Spyro]] gets too close to them, they will come alive and attack him, as they start charging toward him and attempting to poke him with their pointed ears. They will only be killed by charging at them, due to the chest-plates that they wear to absorb flames when Spyro breathes fire at them to kill them. Other times, they can be killed by getting head bashed when Spyro is in the air and on top of them.

Jackals[1] are dog-like enemies that are only found in the Haunted Tomb in Spyro: Year of the Dragon.
