Variant of Dinosaur

Gunfighter Dinos[1] are green dinosaurs in Dino Mines wearing cowboy garbs and wielding two guns.

Gunfighter Dinos also appear in the epilogue of the original game, where they are robbing Moneybags, with a caption that says "The Bailey Gang finds a new target."

Characteristics

Physical Appearance

In the Reignited Trilogy, the Gunfighter Dinos now have regular sized arms, wear brown shirts with a visible belt for their pistol pouches, have boots, and the hat also covers their eyes.

Behavior

When a Gunfighter Dino see Spyro, they will flip their guns in the air and fire them at him continually. They will stop shooting Spyro when he is either defeated or when they can no longer see him. A Gunfighter Duno will flip their guns in the air again if they successfully land a shot at Spyro.

Tactics

Before the Gunfighter Dinos shoot Spyro, they will flip their guns in the air, leaving them vulnerable for a brief time. A quick flame will take them out.

Trivia

  • They along with the TNT Dinos share a resemblance to the Lava Lizards seen in Skelos Badlands from Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!.
  • An egg model titled Object 764 - Dino Mines Egg was originally going to be used in Dino Mines presumably for them and TNT Dinos to hatch out from. Though the texture for the egg model appears different in the final, the cracked shell fragments also use this object ID seem to use the same left-over texture the aforementioned eggs that the Lava Lizards spawn from in Skelos Badlands from Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!.
    • A beta screenshot of Dino Mines shown in the SCEE review build of Spyro: Year of the Dragon seen in an issue of PS Max further shows that their egg model was originally textured red like in Skelos Badlands from Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! before settling on a different texture for the egg model in the final.
