Devil Dog

Devil Dogs[1] are found in Dark Passage. They resemble cute little puppies when standing in the light, but in the darkness, they become massive, scary, doglike monsters that will attempt to eat Spyro if he gets too close.

In these demonic forms, Devil Dogs attack by chewing up Spyro and then spitting him back out. Their smaller versions can still attack Spyro though by simply biting him, but can be defeated by flame or charge. The large Devil Dogs can only be defeated by flame, but they need to be dealt with quickly. Their speed at attacking is fast and highly startling, especially when multiple attack at once.

Trivia

  • Many players consider the Devil Dogs to be some of the scariest enemies within the Spyro series.
  • Their death sound when small are different from their death sound when they're large.
  • In Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, the character Zam has a skin that resembles a devil dog that was made obtainable in the Spyro & Friends Grand Prix.
  • In Spyro Reignited, the Devil Dogs in their normal form were redesigned to resemble french bulldogs. This is because Toys For Bob have pet dogs all over their studio and didn't want Spyro burning little puppies.[2]
