Strongarms[1] are ape-like enemies in Spyro the Dragon that appeared only in the Tree Tops and Metalhead realms. As evidenced in their name, they have long arms they balance on. They are similar to the Banana Boys.

Charactertistics

Behavior

Strongarms are notable for their oversized arms that they use to stand up and deliver kicks to Spyro if he draws close. In the realm Metalhead, they throw their Banana Boys at Spyro. When during the battle with Metalhead, it throws Strongarms at Spyro and can be used to destroy the pylons which power Metalhead.

Tactics

They can be defeated by Spyro's fire (unless Spyro possesses supercharge).

Trivia

  • Strongarms were redesigned to possibly resemble ape-like creatures in the Reignited Trilogy as their ambiguous design in the original 1998 game bore a resemblance to stereotypical and offensive depictions of tribesmen. It is unclear on whether they were intended to resemble apes or people in the original game, but the presence of a tail and their bestial noises implies that conceptually, they weren't people.
