Description

The Haunted Towers subworld is another marvelous castle of the Dream Weavers world, which I’m sure by now you love castles. With blue, white, and gold stones to create their homes with, the Dream Weavers have turned Haunted Castle into just about the perfect castle among all castles in their world. The courtyard, if it could be called one, is more like a dump site for a bunch of steel-forged knight armors, that aren’t so unoccupied now as they use to be… With the power of reanimating magic, the knight suits have now become living guardians of the castle, and can even give an adult dragon some problems in combat. Archways are spanning the length of the smaller islands orbiting the castle, as well as plenty of stairs and rooms inside the castle for many dragons, not to mention the occasional fairy kiss on the head, awarded to Spyro for saving the fairy from the steel-forged knight armor. Haunted Towers is more like a comfortable getaway than a site for paranormal activity…though the bumps and strange noises in the castle at night beg to differ…

Secret Area(s)

Super-charge down to the hall, go through the door on the top right, jump off the edge and onto the area near all of the Haunted Tin Soldiers, jump off the platform with the whirlwind, go round the castle turret and you are in the secret courtyard. (Note: Do this all while holding your supercharge.)

Trivia

  • There is a point in this realm where you can get easily and hopelessly stuck. If you supercharge into the room where the Haunted Tin Soldier is guarding the trove of treasure, and you do not kill him, he will block your every move, making it impossible to pass him unless you lose a life or leave the realm entirely by pausing and selecting "Exit Level."
  • In many of the game's prototypes, Haunted Towers uses Alpine Ridge's music. The wizards in the level were originally textured purple, several polygons were missing in some of the earlier designs for the level, and many of the level's sound effects were once missing. Many of the level's structures and textures also changed in development.
    • In one of the prototypes, leaving the level whilst the enhanced flame ability is enabled will make Spyro keep his red coloring until he returns to Dream Weavers.
  • Haunted Towers is the first of three level names in the original trilogy with the word "towers." The others being Aquaria Towers in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, and Enchanted Towers in Spyro: Year of the Dragon.
