Crystal Dragon Health Glitch
The Crystal Dragon Health Glitch is a glitch that only occurs in the original Spyro the Dragon.
Description
The Crystal Dragon Health Glitch causes Spyro to become invincible under certain circumstances. There are two ways to induce this glitch, but there are at least 15 occurrences in the game where this glitch is found. The most common one is found in Stone Hill.
First, the player must lower their health by confront a Ram, Shepherd, or by diving into water. Make sure that Sparx is gone, then find the Ram near the "Return Home Whirlwind. Also, make sure that the dragon is crystalized. Position yourself in front of the crystal statue so that the Ram charges you into the dragon.
When you die, the game bypasses this with the cutscene of the dragon. When the scene ends, you are invincible.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- No enemies will be able to damage your health with their attacks.
- You will be able to fly over water without drowning.
Cons
- You cannot pause the game via Start or Select.
- You cannot eat butterflies spawned from fodder, though invincibility makes the use of the butterflies obsolete anyhow.
- Though you can use the Return Home portal, you will not be able to enter any portals (Dark Hollow, Town Square, etc.). However, you can still talk to the Balloonist. Before you perform the glitch, pull up the inventory screen and input the following cheat: Square, Square, Circle, Left, Right, Circle, Up, Right, Down. This will allow you to travel to any homeworld.
- If you crash while gliding over water, you will get stuck and repeat the crashing motion in that area
- If you glide so far out in the water and you reach th end of the area, you will fall forever.

| Dry Canyon | After going through a cave there will be two vultures and a smashing gnorc. Defeat them. You will see a an opening on a building with a dragon (Ivor) in it. On the right side there will again be two vultures and a smashing gnorc. Trigger the vulture closest to the building to fly after you and chase you inside the building. Then jump above the dragon and let the vulture attack you. You will then land on the dragon and the rescue cutscene will play. | Ivor |
