Gnasty Gnorc
Gnasty Gnorc (ナスティ・ノーク Nasuti Nōku in Japanese) is a big green Gnorc who was the main antagonist in Spyro the Dragon, and played a part in Spyro: A Hero's Tail.
Pronunciation
His name is pronounced "Nasty Nork", as if without the Gs. However, the interviewer at the start of the first game pronounces the Gs (although this can be dismissed as ignorance).
Personality
Gnasty Gnorc is a mean, ugly, bad tempered, and 'nasty' Gnorc (gnome + orc) who hates Dragons. He is unintelligent, sensitive about his appearances, and will not hesitate to attack those who stand in his way.
Story
Prior to Spyro the Dragon
Gnasty Gnorc was originally an inhabitant of the Dragon Realms, but as time went on, he found it hard to live with the Dragons' rules and customs, and he became chaotic and unruly as he gazed at the dragons treasure of gems that were not only beautiful to look at but also showed him the reflection of his own ugly mug. As time went by Gnasty began causing mischief which soon escalated into trouble in the dragon realms as he began learning and meddling with magic. So the Dragons banished Gnasty to a wasteland world known as the dragon junk yard, where he was far enough away to do whatever he wanted.
Gnasty renamed the wastelands "Gnasty's World." He realized that his power was nothing without minions to command, so he created Gnorcs out of various doo-dads. After a while, he found out that turning gems into Gnorcs was a lot easier and far more effective, so he started "borrowing" the Dragon's treasure and creating gnorcs out of it. The Dragons knew of this, but believed it would be best to let it go for the time being, so as not to upset Gnasty.
Dragon Realms Invasion
One day, during the creation of a documentary video for the DNN (Dragon News Network), Lindar, when asked about Gnasty Gnorc, calls Gnasty "ugly," along with other derogatory terms. Gnasty, who overhears this, becomes enraged and encases every Dragon in crystal (except for Spyro, who is apparently too small for him to notice). He then confiscates their entire treasury, turning some of the gems into Gnorcs and scattering the rest throughout the Dragon Realms. Gnasty also hires thieves to steal the remaining twelve Dragon eggs in an attempt to fully exterminate the Dragons. Since Spyro is the sole remaining Dragon, he takes it upon himself to free all the other Dragons, recover the gems and eggs, and defeat Gnasty.
The Origin of Gnasty the Gnorc
Most people know of Gnasty Gnorc. But do we know the real story? One day, Molten Crater, some of the elder dragons had asked a Orc and a Gnome to try an expieriment. They took DNA from both creatures and put them into a machine. A small green creature came out, he was then known as Gnasty the Gnorc. He then began to grow up with the dragons, and get picked on by them as well. One day, an evil women known as the sorceress, demanded the dragons to leave her world. When the dragons refused, she banished them to the other side of the world. The dragons then got adapted to their new home. Gnasty began to grow older, suffering the insults of the dragons. Gnasty soon grew into a massive creature, larger than the dragons. Gnasty then began to disobey the dragons, and even destroyed some of the sacred locations of the dragon world. Gnasty soon discovered his amazing powers, an slotered the dragons who mocked him. The elders realized that if Gnasty could kill dragons, that he was to dangerous. Gnasty then began chaining up dragons and trying to seize power. The elders then banished Gnasty to a remote location, where he could rule on his own. Gnasty then stumbled upon an old pile of spell books. He then found a spell for turning nic-nacks into minions.Gnasty then discovered that gems made more powerful minions. Gnasty then began to steal gems and make minions of his own to rule.Gnasty was watching DNN when he heard the dragons making fun of him. Outraged, Gnasty then turned all dragons into stone. When news arrived that a Spyro was beating his minions, he made a quick trip to Molten Crater to recruit new minions such as Gulp (who didn't get the job). He was then foiled by a small dragon named Spyro. Gnasty then returned to his old home in molten crater to hide. He then found Gulp returning to beg for work. Gulp told him that his old employer was killed by a dragon named Spyro. Gnasty's brain went wild. He decided to recruit Gulp, for a short while. When Gnasty heard word of Spyro coming to the forgotten worlds, Gnasty and Gulp retreated to Avalar, to hide out in Magma Cone. While Spyro was busy in the forgotten worlds, Elora had spotted Gulp, walking around with a larger figure on the outskirts of Magma Cone. After Spyro thought he defeated the Sorceress, he met up unexpectedly with Elora. Trying not to alarm Spyro, Elora only said "Come visit us in Avalar". Elora wanted Spyro to see what was happening himself. Gnasty and Gulp then heard of Ripto's return. The two went to the Sorceress's Lair to find Ripto. Gnasty and Ripto then began to discuss the Spyro problem. Ripto and Gulp then left to exact their revenge while Gnasty went back to Molten Crater. Gnasty then heard of Ripto's second defeat. Gnasty was sitting on his couch when a red Dragon entered his home. The dragon named Red asked Gnasty to join him on his quest to destroy the Dragons. Despite his hatred for dragons, he agreed. On the way to the dragon homeworld, Red struck Gnasty upside the head, damaging his Memory and personality. Gnasty, confused and uncertain, faced off against Spyro and lost. After Gnasty's second defeat, he went to Avalar. After Hunter and the Proffesor's move, Elora was left in Avalar alone. Gnasty then began to take over Avalar, enslaving everyone. Elora was heald prisoner, and Spyro, had no idea. Spyro never visited Avalar like he promissed to Elora, and Elora was never rescued. Gnasty then began to think about what the Dragons were doing. Gnasty wanted to make sure that if the dragons homeworld was destroyed, that they would have no place to go, so he left Avalar and destroyed the Forgotten Worlds. One day hunter returned with Bianca to Avalar to show her his old home. Hunter then discovered the devastation and saved the world from Gnasty Gnorc. During the fight, Hunter hit him so hard he returned to his normal self. Gnasty then picked up his club, and knocked Hunter, Bianca, and Elora out, wiping their Memory. They then woke up to see everything back to normal, Since Gnasty had left after the fight. Gnasty then began to warp dimensions killing dragons. He then stumbled into the legend of Spyro dimension. He was then hired by Malefor to help lead an assault on the Dragon City. He then found the nest which Spyro's egg lay. The baboons were hired to take the eggs, but Gnasty wanted to crush them. The baboons stopped him, but most of them were killed by Gnasty. The baboons stole Cynders egg and returned to base. Malefor then imprisoned Gnasty in Crystal for his insollence and has remained their ever since.
Defeat
In the final battle between Spyro and Gnasty Gnorc, Spyro must catch the thieves which hold keys to certain doors. Gnasty will meanwhile fire magic beams at him (which turned the other Dragons into crystal). Once Spyro reaches Gnasty, Gnasty runs away. Spyro must chase Gnasty throughout the realm and get close enough to flame him. After this, Gnasty will enter a lava tunnel. Spyro must follow him, gliding from platform to platform (each of which is gradually cascading into the wall) until he gets to the end where Gnasty will be waiting. Spyro must flame Gnasty a second time to finish him off.
A Hero's Tail
In Spyro: A Hero's Tail, Gnasty Gnorc was resurrected by Red, an evil Dragon Elder, and assisted him in his evil plans.
When Spyro confronts Gnasty the second time, Gnasty claims that he was the one who defeated Spyro, but Spyro corrects him and the battle ensues. After Spyro defeats him, the trapped Electric Fairy, Amp, grants Spyro the power of Electric Breath.
