A Metal Vase

Metal Vases are a fire-resistant type of gem-filled container that needs to be charged in order to be broken open and collect the gems inside. They appear throughout the Spyro series, and later made a reappearance in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure.

Some metal vases are wrapped in firework explosives, similar to the Explosive Chests. They need to be flamed in order to break them open automatically.

There are also Metal Vases carried by red balloons.  Any move or weapon could be used to pop a red ballon.  These vases fall and break open if you pop the ballon.  They also look exactly like the explosive vases.  The only difference is that these vases are blue in the spots where the explosive vases are green.

In Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, every vase contains a 5 gem.

There is also a glitch in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, in which if one flames a vase, and then tries charging at it while it wobbles, Spyro will charge through the vase.
