Dinosaurs are enemies and characters that appeared in the original Spyro series. It was noted by Spyro in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly that dinosaurs and magic don't mix, which is why Ripto never fully properly used his magic.
Dinosaurs notably appeared in Skelos Badlands and Dino Mines as enemies that terrorize the local inhabitants.
A clan of dinosaurs called Riptocs made their debut in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly under the command of Ripto.
